Four Dual-Tube burners rated at 45,000 BTU cover 460 sq. in. of primary space, a 10,000 BTU infrared side burner handles high-heat sears, and a 15,000 BTU rear burner with rotisserie kit takes care of roasts in a smaller outdoor kitchen.
Best for: Smaller outdoor kitchens with a 28" opening where the cook still wants infrared searing and a rotisserie, with 750 sq. in. of total space.
The Broil King Baron 490 Shadow IR 28" built-in gas grill brings the Baron IR feature set to a compact head. A cast aluminum cookbox holds four stainless steel Dual-Tube burners at 45,000 BTU, a 304 stainless Flav-R-Wave system, and 460 sq. in. of primary space that reaches 750 sq. in. with the warming rack.
It is a good match for patios and smaller islands where space is tight but the menu is not. Use the 10,000 BTU infrared side burner to put a crust on steaks, then switch to the 15,000 BTU rear burner and rotisserie kit for a chicken or pork loin. Illuminated knobs, Sure-Lite ignition and a slide-out grease tray are standard, and cover #67587 can be added here.
